Improved piglet immune coverage and optimized vaccine response: the immunostimulant effect of ProbioactiFAP®
A study conducted in Italy has demonstrated the significant positive impact of ProbioactiFAP® in the diet of sows and their piglets on the piglets' immune coverage and vaccine response. These results are explained by an indirect effect through the strengthening of immune transfer from the supplemented sow to her piglet, as well as a direct effect through the stimulation of immune responses in the supplemented piglet, consistent with the immunostimulant effect of ProbioactiFAP® demonstrated in cell cultures. These results were published at the 2009 Congress of the Italian Society of Swine Pathology and Breeding (SIPAS) (Borghetti et al., 2009).
